About the training

In June 2024 the MFLOPS research fellows gave their feedback on the scientific and soft skills training sessions provided by the consortium up to that date.

“Great insights from Prof. Rung’s seminar on multiphase flow modelling!
Really informative and stimulating lecture”

Francesco, DC1/ NTUA

“The level of the scientific lectures, mainly the one offered by Prof. Rung, was very high and I gained useful and practical knowledge applicable to my research. My experience was also fostered by participating in Cavitation Symposium 2024, where I had the opportunity to present and discuss my research results for the first time and meet new people from industry and academia. Finally, the soft skills training was very comprehensive and offered me valuable advice on how to prepare my presentations.”

Spyros, DC2/AHS-AT

“I found the public speaking and presentation skills workshop quite valuable. As someone who struggles with these situations, the tips on managing stress and preparing in advance were particularly helpful. The entire training was interactive, allowing us to practice what we learned, and the instructor took the time to provide personalized feedback to each participant.”

Vassilis, DC3/ TUD

” Over the first training camp, I learned how to tune my presentation
and I got an inside into both the numerical and experimental approaches
to investigating multiphase flows. All together with the CAV2024
Symposium, it was a great chance for networking and a perfect start for
my PhD.”

Matt, DC4/ OVGU

“Soft skills training: Very well organized training, filled an important
gap in my training before joining the project.

Lecture by Dr. Karathanasis: Interesting and informative presentation,
helped me have a better overview of the range of applications of
multiphase flows.

Lecture by Prof. Rung: Prof. Rung presented the state of the art in
multiphase flow modeling and explained some of the challenges in
relevant numerical methods. Both were essential to conduct
research in the field and will help me a lot during the project.”

Antonis, DC5/ TUHH

“I completed a fantastic soft skills training! I feel super inspired and ready to face new challenges with renewed confidence.”

Moloud, DC 6/ VOITH

“Presentation skills: The workshop was really impressive for me and I learned prepare presentations and speech adjusting to the audience to capture their attention.

Cavitation Symposium: Attending a scientific conference and meeting with various scientific groups all over the world was one of the best experiences in my life. I was impressed by the keynote speeches, and I benefitted from the discussions I had with different groups who work on numerical methods for cavitation. Also, I had a unique experience at the Galla dinner and dance, which gave me the energy to continue my scientific life.”

Hamid, DC 7/ OVGU

The soft skills training has significantly improved my presentation skills. I learned how to effectively use my body and voice, along with well-designed slides, to impress the audience. The interactive sessions were highly engaging.

The scientific lectures were insightful, particularly on the topics of experimental and numerical modelling of multi-phase flows.

Amin, DC 8/NTUA

” The multi-phase modelling workshop given by Prof. Rung provided a great overview on the state-of-the-art on the field and triggered some interesting ideas to try in my thesis.”

Sergi, DC 9 / AVL

“The multiphase flow modelling seminar was particularly interesting and useful for me. Networking with researchers in the same field, upskilling myself in effective presentation and interesting plenary talks in CAV24 were some of the highlights for me.”

Vishal, DC10/AVL

I really appreciated the soft skills training in Chania. Before this, I struggled with making and presenting presentations. The training significantly improved my skills, and I noticed a positive impact on my performance at ECCOMAS.

Eduardo, DC 11/ AHS-CH

“The recent training sessions were truly inspiring and provided a fantastic boost as I embark on my academic journey. On one hand, the Soft Skills training provided common ground for learning and for the DCs of the project to get to know each other, while on the other hand, the Cavitation Symposium event offered a great chance to attend presentations by brilliant researchers.”

Vangelis, DC 12/CITY

“A unique experience with valuable educational material and quality time spent with the fellows of the project. Looking forward to the upcoming meetings.”

Stratis, DC 13/CITY

I really enjoyed Dr. Karathanassis’ scientific lecture! As we’re all focused on modelling and simulation, it was fascinating to see the experimental side of the research. It gave me a new perspective and a deeper understanding of how theory and practice come together in our field.
